Soundings are meant to evoke sensory and emotional experiences while bringing awareness to the profound and fleeting nature of our lives. Country Sounds and City Sounds diverge from the universal and commonplace moments in our daily lives and move to instants of the sounds in nature and city, organic and man-made. They resemble photographic snapshots, memories of moments that happened but are now seemingly gone. However, in the act of listening is a return to the present; the sound is happening again now. Thus Soundings question the very nature of time and of our relationship to it. At what point will we be present for the moments in our lives? Is our life made of a series of moments or is it one long instant where we come in and out of consciousness?
